We can create ANYTHING!

Fabrics and Frames is a manufacturer who prides itself on building high quality custom furniture. Throughout the years, we have found ourselves  working on trains, boats, century old sofas, retro furniture, classic Eames chairs, as well as many other projects for both commercial and residential spaces.  Since we have been in business for 35 years and have learned so much over the years, there is not a project that we cannot tackle.  Assisting our customers with solutions to awkward and tight spaces which their homes  or business sometimes have is one of the ways that showcases our expertise. So if you have a problem and need a solution we are the place to visit!

Over the years we found ourselves creating “works of art” which fit each client’s personality and space.  Check it out these examples!

Often when people are building a custom home, they create unique niches and spaces for added interest, but figure out they may not  be as comfortable or useful as originally expected.  When this happens, our customers will call us to fix the problem!  Creating seating niches and banquets to fit the luxury and style of their space allows them the functionally they want to enjoy the area.

All custom furniture doesn’t have to be built in and we have built a number of items which are unique, yet stand alone.

Since we create custom looks, this has given us a wide variety of knowledge in furniture.  Antiques are items  which often fascinate people.  Although the trend these days is to be more contemporary, the stories that are shared behind antiques create memories in people’s homes.  Recently we have had two clients that have brought us some unique pieces to work on.    Although they are projects that are still in the works, we would like to give you a sneak peak to what we are currently working on, and hope you will  visit our Facebook Page to see how they turn out…  Till next blog, Please keep us in mind for your next unique project!

Autumn and Winter Design Colors for 2013.

In the design world, the colors that are chosen for each season are often based off  the trends which are set by the leaders of design.  Their picks are often inspired by the colors of the world around them.  Weather and nature are topics that everyone can understand and relate to, so many times colors chosen by the designers are inspired by the colors of the Earth.

For the upcoming season of Autumn and Winter 2013 leading into 2014, you will notice that designers have given us several options.  These options are determined by mood of design and an overall aesthetic achievement.  There are four categories that are influencing this year’s upcoming interior look: Flint Colors, Storm Colors, Clash Colors, and Alpine Colors.

Flint Colors: “The Rock Inspired Look”

Flint Colours

Flint is a marbleized rock found in nature which has many different colors incorporated into it.   Reminiscent of the Earth’s natural colors, this combinations of colors like: Neanderthal, Cromagnon, Lascaux, Mammoth, Knapped, Bone, Slate, and Foraged keep the interior space calm and inviting.    The look is easy to maintain because it is made up of many colors which are subtle and neutral in tone, allowing an easy transition through the years.

Storm Colors: “The Dark and Calm Look”

Storm

For a number of years now, grey tones and dark colors have been leading the design trends.  Pulling inspiration from natural storm colors, such as: sandstorm, hurricane, martian , flash, cumulus, lumen, tumult, and thunder, this look transforms your home into a cozy sophisticated interior space.  By highlighting minimal colors and encouraging a slight metallic touch  gives a twilight touch to your space.

Storm Colored Interiors

Clash Colors: “Bringing Energy to the Room”

Clash Colors

The colors which  inspire the Clash look, pull from the energetic, raw and brush colors that are used in advertising and graphic design.  This contemporary look infuses the room with colors like: lambeth, dandy, persimmon, laudanum, Havana, canary, melancholy, and jadeite. These colors bring an energy to a room that the previous colors have ignored. For those who have small spaces that need a punch, this color combination can highlight that perfect niche.

Clash Colored Interiors

Alpine Colors:  ” Tranquility from The Alps”

Alpine Colors

The European mountain range, The Alps, have also influenced the colors of this season.  The tones and colors which are used in this palette pull from the large animals , graceful ambiance, and woodland and country flower theme which the landscape has to offer.  This particular space covers eight countries in the European land, allowing variation in hues to emerge such as: larch, cedar, juniper, pinecone, fondue, firefrost, drizzle, and gluwen.  All tones can be combined to create a layout which is inviting, yet tranquil.

Here at Fabrics and Frames we understand the importance of color combinations and how they control the type of energy that you want your room to project. We inspire to help our customers create the most aesthetically pleasing spaces, as well as design  help that will transition there interiors through time.  If you need assistance in creating a trendy colored space or are looking for a one stop resource for choosing fabrics and furniture let Fabrics and Frames help you. Our very qualified design staff is always ready to give you whatever help you want whether it is designing an entire room or just adding a few pieces to update for the current season!

Bringing Fashion into your Interior

This  week Fabrics and Frames is celebrating their 100th blog posting.  A common theme throughout many of our blogs has been the way designers seldom stick to one genre of design.  Many of them tend to influence many other areas, such as graphics, interiors, and art allowing their artistic talents to be spread to an even larger audience.

Fashion in Interiors

Since Fabrics and Frames offers thousands of different fabric choices through different vendors, we often notice that many fashion designers have teamed up with some of the leading brands in interior design.  Some have decided to team up with particular furniture brands which offer exclusives to their designs, while others offer their fabrics through specific vendors like Kravet, S. Harris, and Robert Allen.

Since we are a manufacturer of custom furniture and assist many furniture companies around the Dallas metroplex, we have found ourselves working with lines from several designers.  Regardless if its Jean Paul Gautiers, Missoni, Issac Mizrahi, Jacklyn Smith, or Sonia Rykiel we have noticed that quality lines hold specific detail in the fabrics and when they are juxtaposed with craftsmanship it allows the overall product to look fabulous.

Since we consider ourselves to be artists of design, we like to support others who share our artistic hunger to create some of the most innovative and trendy decor.  That’s why we offer fabric lines through high end vendors to allow our clients choices on how they want their homes portrayed to their guests.  If you are looking for someone to help assist you in creating your dream home, please contact Fabrics and Frames.

Inspired by Wood

Over the past couple of years as I have skimmed the pages of many home and design magazines I have noticed  that one of the latest trends in design is restoring and reusing wood.  With an imaginative mind, you will find that there are many different accents that can be created out of wood.  Using tree stumps for ottomans and tables seems to be a popular way to design with wood.  There are several suppliers that create and sell items like this for your home. You can also create your own by out sourcing someone who has recently chopped down a tree or has extra firewood.  If you are someone who is a little more creative and has more energy, you can create your own special piece by sanding and painting the wood to give it a more finished look.  It will hold presence in any interior space and stand as a conversation piece.

Another idea which will have a similar look, but has a more upscale design are acrylic side tables with tree branches inserted into them.  This look is primarily for the more artsy chic person who may be inspired by glamour interiors.  By giving a more contemporary feel to what could be a cottage style, this item will have your guests wondering how much you spent on such a unique item.

Accessories are usually  the last things that you should place into your interior space because it is like the jewelry for an outfit. Your primary furniture should take precedence in the space planning of your room.  Here at Fabrics and Frames we have seen many different items come through our doors.  Through the years we have found that we are the functional source for a handyman’s dream.  We have had several customers over the years who have built their own beautiful wood furniture pieces, but did not have the expertise to make gorgeous cushions to complete their projects.  That’s where we come in and help them with the functionality to their creations.  By building cushions and throw pillows to create a more finished look to their bench styled furniture we have helped make their designs more comfortable and usable.

There are many different items that you can create using natural materials like wood.  Imagination is the source to creative green design.  When you create something by reusing an item that would be wasted otherwise, you are helping minimize our footprint on the Earth.  If you have found that you are in a middle of a project that Fabrics and Frames can help with, please let us know.  We are your source for cushions, table runners, and throw pillows that will help coordinate all of your styles together.

Floral is Back!

Flowers are a symbol of peace, serenity, and love.  Many choose to decorate with this image because  floral patterns have been  a statement in traditional furniture for centuries.  When used as accents to bring the colors of the room together, this particular look will give a subtle feminine influence to a room’s decor.

Vector Floral Pattern

Since the early 90’s, traditional floral patterns have been gradually fading away and transitioning into something which looks like a minimalist approach using contemporary vector art. With this look individuals are able to place a splash of floral design in their home without overwhelming the look so that it appears too feminine.  By keeping the floral patterns to a minimum of 2-6 colors, this look mimics famous printmakers similar to Andy Warhol’s contemporary art images.

Andy Warhol's Flowers

For the 2013 Summer Season, many new fabrics and products are being produced that help create a “Garden Party” theme.  Using colors like Tangerine Orange, Emerald, Rhododendron Pink, Bright Yellow, and Peony Pink brightens up the space with great vivid colors and complements the season of summer.  If you are one who is contentious of the seasons and always looking to transition your space to reflect different parts of the year, a tip would be to invest in some solid cooler toned pillows or accessories to mix with the vivid colors of the summer so that your room will not be too over powered by the brightness.

Floral Interiors using solid pillows

Many of the current trends are inspired by the earth’s natural hues.  Floral arrangements are chosen by the many different bold tones of floral arrangements.  Some of the most vibrant flowers are the Gerber daisies, which come in a wide array of pigments.  Other often used colors are influenced by those in the horizon.  Inspiration comes from what is familiar to us. As we  notice the foliage  pigment changes as the seasons change, we are inspired to choose  a variety of different hues to bring into our interiors.  Although you may be inclined to choose brighter hues for the summer, you may be more prone to choose a palette which suits your needs all year round.  A great combination would be Earth tones of Orange, Green, Gold and Purple. The colors can remain the same but the hues can change with the seasons.

Florals will always be in style in some fashion or the other. The trick to keeping up with the times is to adapt your style to the current trends using colors that make you happy and content!
